XIMB-XUB celebrated Republic Day in a uniqueway. The Social Responsibility Cell of XIMB organized PARA ATHLOS, a sports event conducted for differently-abled children. This event intends to provide an avenue for the differently-abled children to spread their wings and take flight in the arena of sports by proving their abilities and sportsman spirit.

This year, the event was organised in association with the Harsha Memorial School for Deaf and Dumb. The event started at 10.30 am, after the flag hoisting ceremony for the Republic Day, which was attended by the Vice Chancellor and Director, Fr. Paul Fernandes SJ.Seventy five children from the Harsha Memorial School,participated in Para Athlos this year with vigour and enthusiasm. The children were divided in three categories: Junior Boys, Senior Boys and Girls, and the various sports activities included100 m and 50 m races, lemon and spoon race, one legged and three legged race, skipping and volley ball.The talent, the attitude and the team spirit shown by the kids were commendable.

The winners received their prizes from Fr. Bipin Kumar Kujur, who also congratulated and expressed his gratitude to the Social Responsibility Cell volunteers for working on such a noble cause. Mrs. Sanjukta Samantray, the Principal, of the Harsha Memorial School, who accompanied the children said, “It’s an honour to be associated with XIMB-XUB for so many years. We look forward for collaboration in many such activities in the coming days”. After the prize distribution ceremony, the students and the teachers accompanying them were served lunch at the institute mess. The joy and happiness on the faces of the children was visible from the moment they entered the campus till they boarded the bus back to their school. It was a proud moment for the hosts.
