My IIFT interview experience:
Score – 53 , Date 5 Feb , Mumbai
GD Topic : How to make India an attractive destination for doing business ?
There were 10 Members in the GD
The GD lasts for atleast 40 minutes . So one gets ample amount of time to put across one’s points
Initially everyone is given 1.5-2 minutes to share his/her thoughts on the topic (The one who gets the last chance to speak is the unluckiest , as majority of the points get covered by that time). Then the platform is open for discussion.
Whatever topic you get , connect it with Social / Political / Economic / Legal / Technological (SPELT) aspect. It will act as a framework and will help in generating Ideas
PI :
The panel consisted of 2 members and both of them were Old Profs.
One was simply observing and the other one was asking questions and cross- questioning
- How has your stay been in your locality ?
They tried to made me comfortable by asking an easy question
- Why MBA ?
I spoke at length about my plans and explained the entire story. This question was meant to check clarity of thought and lot of questions were asked to check the consistency in my CV form answers and the answers that I was giving in the interviews. You must know everything about the points mentioned in the CV form.
- Learnings in the past 10 months at office ?
This was to assess whether I learnt anything in the office or merely solving AIMCAT’s
- What differentiates you from others ?
This is one of the most important questions and you must have 3-4 strong points which you can justify.
- In my Long term plans , I had mentioned about starting up on my own , so questions were asked regarding them too.The interviews last for only 10-15 minutes. So it is advisable to prepare well for Essay and GD also , as some students might not face those questions through which they can impress the interviewers.
All in all, even if you don’t know any answer, its alright to accept it. Nobody knows all the answers, though you must know the person/place where you can find those answers.Last but not the least you need to show your enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

It hires the best marketing agency available (in case it’s in house- hires a few heavyweights), gives them a handsome cheque (the best part especially if the cheque bears your name !) and now expects […]
