Have you ever wondered on the way of life of a tribe? We may have moved to a modern and a civilized world, yet unaware of the ignorance of these. This talk takes us through the journey of introduction of medicines to one such tribe namely Madia tribe, the various challenges of superstitions and practices faced, from the man who served humanity through his life realizing the dream of providing for more than 40,000 surgeries in a year, free of cost.
Dr. Prakash Amte is a medico who left his MS half way to join his father Baba Amte to serve in the dense forests of Abhujmad, 42 years ago. The project transformed into three: a hospital(Lok Biradari Prakalp Davakhana), a residential school (Lok Biradari Prakalp Ashram Shala) and an orphanage for injured wild animals (the Amte’s Animal Ark). A recipient of the Ramon Magsaysay Award and the Padmashree, he continues to serve the primitive tribe-Madia-gonds with dedication and determination.
