Bengaluru, 1st September: The South Regional Round of Deloitte Maverick Season 5 was held in Bengaluru for the first time in 5 years. The event was hosted by Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Bengaluru where 26 teams from 9 colleges participated.

The event started off with Dr. Rajesh Panda, Director of SIBM Bengaluru addressing the audience. The theme for this year’s event was “What Impact Will You Make?” It inherently means that students across the globe will now take on bigger responsibilities and have the potential to become world leaders.

They are the ones who will now impact the world in one way or the other.

All the participating teams were given a Case Study for which they had to submit a business solution within 9 days. 26 teams were selected based on their submission and were called for the boardroom presentation on the day of the event. Top 7 teams from these 26 were then required to present their business solution on stage, to the senior leaders from Deloitte. The top 3 teams from these 7 were declared winners of the South Regional Round and will compete at the Finale.

The 7 South Zone Finalists that presented on stage were:

ISB Hyderabad – Elessar,
IIM Indore – Pirates of Pithampur,
IIM Bengaluru – TruLife,
IIM Indore – The Ace Busters,
ISB – Wanderers,
TAPMI – CaseBusters, and
SIBM Bengaluru – The Resistance.

After all the rounds, the 3 winning teams, set to compete at Finale, are:

SIBM Bengaluru – The Resistance
ISB Hyderabad – Wanderers, and
TAPMI – CaseBusters.

Team ‘The Resistance’ of SIBM Bengaluru emerged victorious in the South Regional Round and will now gear up for the Finale. The team consisted of Karan Kakkar, Sohil Icewala and Akansha Asher, students of SIBM Bengaluru specializing in Finance, in their final year of MBA.

A Deloitte leader remarked by saying “We are looking for people driven by purpose and innovation and we want to celebrate new ideas.”

The entire event concluded with all the participants and students of SIBM Bengaluru dancing to the tunes of ‘Vande Mataram’ performed by ‘Jukebox Project’, the winners of ‘War of Bands’. The results were then declared, leaving winners of the event smiling their brightest.
