Have you ever wondered that how companies decide where products should be placed in retail stores or outlets?
Or how companies can increase visual appeal of their stores or products to satisfy customers’ needs or attract new set of customers!
It was always posed as a big question that either product is important or its placement in the stores which entice customers to end up buying. In my opinion its mixture of both product and its placement which creates this charm and both are inseparable. Thus we are in desperate need of some magic which can help us with improvised placement of products for our increased sales value and visual appeal to tap customers mind.
I was as clueless as you guys are until one day I came across a word called Planogram. Initially I was startled by the name and purpose but on gradually digging about it deeper now I understand why everyone is running for it from Cosmetics Company to clothing, shoes, apparels and fashion. Every company wants to utilize its potential. And this lead us to the question what is it?
Planogram or POG’s is a kind of tool which is used in visual merchandising and planning retail space or considered as a visual diagram providing detailed placement of every product in retail outlets or stores making your work easier than before. This type of programming is also known as Planogramming and the person who does such programming is called Planogrammer.
It is used for detailed placement of products which is not just related to presenting the flow but also on which aisle – how high or low to place your product, by evaluating past and current sales patterns you can also determine number of facings for SKU’s which can be used in case you have large number of products and you want to increase their visual display and for that you need different facings to attract customers, better and improved point of sales. It provides comprehensive solution to all small and large retailers’ problems across the world.
Large retailers usually hire specialists for the designing and use of planograms but smaller retailers still depends largely on paper and pen as it is a skill set and cost higher. The various benefits which Planogram provides are not limited to placing of products and increasing sales. It can also be used for product replenishment, reducing out of stock problems and inventory control. It combines the store needs with consumer needs thereafter increasing your sales and helping you to stand apart in eyes of your consumers! Shelf Logic, Smart draw, Planogram Builder are some of the software’s used for planogramming.
I am still analyzing this product features and will surely be amazed as I explore it further! What about you?
