Xavier School of Commerce, Xavier University Bhubaneswar hosted the 1st National Conference on “Commerce in 21st Century: Innovations, Trends & Practices” on February 20, 2016.
Vice Chancellor of XUB, Prof. Dr. Fr. Paul Fernandes.S.J inaugurated the conference and delivered the inaugural address. Prof. P.K Mohanty, Dean of the School and the convener of the conference delivered the welcome address. The chief guest for the event was Sri Niten Chandra, IAS,Principal Secretary to Govt., Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. CMA Prof. Bhabatosh Banerjee and Prof. Banikanta Mishra were the Guest of Honor on the inaugural function. Prof. Sibanjan Mishra, conference secretary, proposed the vote of thanks for the inaugural session.
The speakers were quite candid and passionate about the topic and shared their views on the changing trends and practices in commerce that we see in the present scenario. They strongly believe that commerce education will play a very important role in nation building and one cannot underplay the significance it holds.
A discussion was held on the theme, ‘”Role of Commerce education in nation building” in the plenary session in which Prof. Ranjan Kumar Bal, CMA Prof. Bhabatosh Banerjee, Prof. Achlapathy, Prof. Hanif, CA Mr. RajibSahoo took part.
Research papers were presented by research scholars, delegates from other reputed Colleges and Universities and also by the students of School of Commerce in the technical sessions. The sessions were very informative and the presentations were well appreciated by the participants of the conference. Fr. Tony Uvary, the registrar of the university delivered the valedictory address and Prof. Ranjan Dasgupta, co-convener of the conference proposed the vote of thanks.
