Bengaluru, March 5th, 2016: Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Bengaluru hosted its 7th Annual Management Day on 5th March, 2016. The Management Day is organized to celebrate the achievements of the students of graduating batch and award them. The occasion was graced by the presence of chief guest Mr. S. D. Shibulal, Co-Founder, Former Member of Board and CEO, Infosys and by the guest of honor Mr. Debabratha Banerjee, President of Sales, Marketing and International Business division, John Distilleries Pvt. Ltd. With the 7th graduating batch, the total alumni count crossed the 1000 mark.
The ceremony was inaugurated by the Director of SIBM Bengaluru Dr. Rajesh Panda. He counselled students to maintain work life balance and emphasized that ‘Good is not good enough. Good is the enemy of excellence’ and urged both the batches to never stop learning.
Mr. Banerjee shared some anecdotes advising students to look for opportunities in difficult situations and to challenge the convention while working in industry as it is the only way to innovate.
Mr. S. D. Shibulal narrated with illustrations of importance data-driven decision making. He advised students to not be afraid of wrong decisions but urged them to not stick to those decisions for emotional reasons. He stressed on the importance of continuous learning and advised to learn different aspects of a business through his life-stories.
The outgoing students were appreciated by the Deputy Director, Prof A. Vidyasagar for all the efforts that they had put in and for the laurels that they brought to SIBM, Bengaluru. He emphasized on importance of having commitment and passion towards work.
This was followed by the award ceremony in which students were felicitated for excellence in both the academic and the non – academic arenas. This was accompanied by the appointment of the new Student Council for the session 2016-17.
Rohan Bharaj, the newly appointed Student President said, “SIBM Bengaluru is like home to me. I wish to see it become one of the best institutes in India for which I pledge to work tirelessly with my entire team. I’d like to thank the senior council members & the management of the college to give me this opportunity to lead the student council. I will strive hard to fulfill all duties with utmost dedication and commitment.”
Ashish Kumar, the newly appointed Student Vice President said, “With immense pride and pleasure I’d like to say that SIBM Bengaluru has scaled significant heights in 8 years since of its inception. One of the important growth-drivers is – The Student Council headed by Student President and Vice President. It gives me a sense of honor and reverence to strive for amelioration of such an esteemed institute. I’d request all the students to effectively contribute to the growth of this college and realize that ‘all of us together can effect a change’.”
The student leadership council acts as a bridge between the students and the management. It works towards creating a sense of belongingness and trying to make every individual feel involved in the journey that he/she is a part of at SIBM Bengaluru.
