Sravanti BadamParticipant@Raghu Ram: Your OA and QA look good but VA has just missed the 90 percentile line. Rest all looks very good. According to the previous trends, I doubt a PGPM call (Lets hope for the best). May be you can get HR or IM.
Job switch is not a problem unless and until you justify the reasons in the interview. In fact, it would be a good point to talk about in the interview. You can somehow relate it to your interest in finance. You can even tell it to be one of the reasons for “Why MBA?”
Hope I have answered your query. Good luck 🙂

Sravanti BadamParticipant@Sakshi: Your overall CAT score looks good, but your QA is slightly on the lower side. Also, your B.Tech. aggregate % is little low. Consistent academic performance is preferred generally. So, PGPM call might not be possible. However, you might get a HR or IM call, but converting it would require good preparation and performance, as there would be many people with all 3 scores(OA, QA, VA) above 90 percentile. So, it all lies in your hand to convert, in case you get a call. But the call itself is doubtful due to the above mentioned reasons.

Sravanti BadamParticipant@Aman: Your profile looks excellent. You would be getting a call for PGHR and PGPIM (and most probably PGPM too), but converting it needs excellence in your GDPI performance, as there would be many 96+ percentilers competiting for the admission.
IM program offered by MDI is an excellent one, where you would be in India for 6 months (June-Feb) and the rest in Europe (MDI has a tie-up with ESCP). And yes, you have to search for an internship on your own either in Europe or in India. But the final placement is taken care of by MDI. Also, the fees for PGPIM is higher than that of PGPM and PGHR. The intake in IM batch is 30-35 students, whereas that in PGHR is 60 and PGPM is 240.

Sravanti BadamParticipant@Anant: Your profile on the whole looks very good, except the fact that your VA score is a little less. Generally, 90+ in both the sections will surely fetch a call for a profile like yours. Nevertheless, you can expect a call as your acads look good.

Sravanti BadamParticipant@prajesh: 1. We can’t generalize things. Considering placements, some companies give weightage to previous acads and others don’t. If you are asking about B-school interviews, previous acads more or less matter. In case you get a shortlist, I’m sure you would be asked about “why 61% in btech” in the MDI interview. So, if you provide a proper and convincing justification, your low score won’t be a factor for rejection.
2. It is a misconception that MDI has higher weightage for CAT score. I have seen people who couldn’t convert at 99.5+. So, if your profile is good and you do your WAT-GD-PI well, you will definitely convert.December 28, 2014 at 10:21 pm #2174
Sravanti BadamParticipant@swati SP jain needs people from a good grad college and those who are involved in NGOs, social service activities etc. Higher importance is given to extra curricular activities. So, if you have all these, you can convert.
Also, Your 10th, 12th and Grad scores are good. There are chances of getting a call from the 6 new IIMs that are going to start this year, as well as you can hope for a call from the previous new IIMs. i.e. other than A,B,C,L,I,K,S.
Last year, KJ Somaya had a cut off of 90 percentile. Lower chances in IMI and IMT. So, lets hope for the best. Good luck!December 28, 2014 at 9:40 pm #2170
Sravanti BadamParticipant@prajesh The positives in your profile: Overall CAT percentile looks good and the work experience is also in the related sector. Negatives: Verbal score is a little less. Same with the graduation percentage. So, let’s hope for a call.
BTW the category doesn’t matter in MDI process, as everyone is considered equal. There’s no reservation system.December 28, 2014 at 10:13 am #2127
Sravanti BadamParticipant@sankalp Your CAT score looks good, so you might get a call. But you need to justify your low CGPA in B.Tech. And yes, the cutoff is different for the HR program.
