Sarthak BrahmaParticipantHi Tulika. Sorry for the late reply but I too am an undergrad here so don’t know about it from experience. However, I have been advised to start upon it seriously from the start of 6th sem. Until then, we need to form a strong base with knowledge of current affairs, good communication skills and vocabulary. Again, others would know better about it. All The Best :good:

Sarthak BrahmaParticipantIt is one thing to have a good product and to let others know that you have it is another. Marketing thus is justified in trying to fulfill the need it was designed for. I don’t think there is anything unethical in marketing as long as it leads to any sort of direct damage to anyone.

Sarthak BrahmaParticipant@Rishabh- Yes, of course bro,a lot of factors play their roles behind the buying process but I am simply talking about whether or not disclaimers produce a negative effect on CONSUMER PERCEPTION. Its an exclusive point here. Moreover, I agreed about the less significance on sales point exclusively on your example. PEACE.
Now, far as generalizing the same is concerned, disclaimers do hurt consumer perception for products based on choice. Because I Feel so, I have started this thread buddy. Who knows, the right points and facts may change my perception about this. Right?

Sarthak BrahmaParticipant@Rishabh- I don’t quite agree. The said disclaimer, although may produce the same thought response as u suggested but some part of the brain is somewhat cautioned too. While that may not necessarily hamper the number of sales largely, they do play some role. Atleast, I feel so 😉

Sarthak BrahmaParticipantGreat views everyone. It is impressive to see how everyone has backed his opinions with facts and stats. Everyone has taken a definite side and not just presented mixed views which is in the spirit of the debate. This was pretty much expected too given the fact that it is about the shape India is going to hold in future. Of course as suggested here, the definition and criteria that assesses a country as a Super-Power is important. Some may not agree with the conventional standards of the same. So what do you good people consider a Super-power? Try to think of your idea of a good/great country; Regard a country that fits your idea as a Super-power. And then, Let us know of your views if India can meet those standards and become a super-power by 2020.
So keep those ideas coming. Happy Debating !! :yahoo:

Sarthak BrahmaParticipantIt is a different thing when it comes to addictive products. and government imposed disclaimers. There is another level of thought process that goes behind that. But when we are talking about choice of people based on products with or without disclaimers, disclaimers do hurt a bit there.

Sarthak BrahmaParticipantThis is an altogether different thing about newspapers whereby they are a medium of advertising. Newspapers themselves advertise in aggressive ways for eg. Look here . If one thinks about it, newspapers may be the closest field whereby advertising is pretty much closely related to sales. What say people?

Sarthak BrahmaParticipantGreat insight Binu. And Yes I also read about Google being interested in buying WhatsApp for around 10 billion $. Still it is argued that Facebook will not be able to make back its purchase price. Hence, it all comes down to the manner in which we are talking about the profitability here. If in terms of the user-base and preventing others from reaching its stature then Yes it was a good deal. If in terms of money, then sadly for Facebook, it is not so
