prajeshguptaParticipantRehan, a doctor, who is a native Anarsian, is in a dilemma. He used to worship General Alcatras who was the symbol of unity between the Anarsians and Tungans and was one of the well-known faces of the 1980 freedom struggle. But his perception of the General have changed ever since the General has been associated with the TNM
From this description it seems Dr. Rehan is not aware of the restrictions which the Anarsian govt has put on the Tungan population(restricting participation in armed forces to 10%,reducing autonomy in foreign policy and trade, removing Tungal from list of official languages). It seems he considers General Alcatras as a seperatist who is his nations enemy. His personal loss of his fiancee also fuels this dislike.
As described in the passage Dr. Rehan finds General Alcatraz in an unconscious state and in need of urgent medical attention. In my opinion Dr. Rehan should perform his duties professionally and treat the General. Though General Alcatras and his TNM movement have been responsible for death of 20000 people, it is Rehan’s obligation to save lives of people whenever possible.
In case Rehan gets overcome by his personal emotions(due to loss of his fiancee) and he lets the General die, the situation can turn worse. The separatist movement will get a martyr in the form of the General, the seperatists might hero worship him and there are chances that the TNM might intensify and calls to seperate Tungan from Anarsia might grow stronger. This might lead to more loss of life than ever imagined, especially in mainland Anarsia.
On the other hand Rehan can treat the unconscious general and save his life.He can try to convince the general that there is no solution through violence, peaceful dialogue is the only way. After the genral recovers fully, Rehan should inform the govt authorities and hand over the general to them. The government would carry on negotiations with the general, rather than flare up the TNM which would lead to more destruction.

prajeshguptaParticipantThe company, Elixir Microbes private limited is facing higher attrition rate than the industry average. Due to the harassment case against one of the promoters of the company, the morale has been at an all time low. Moreover, employees with low morale also have the option of being poached by their bigger rival RealMedicine. Ayesha who plans to start employee is king program must address these concerns.
As exhibit 2, shows that gender diversity is more skewed in favour of males (Males- 83%, Feamales- 17%). During the recruitment season, more weightage should be given to female candidates without compromising on other parameters of selection.Women should be provided with special counselling every month with the HR department, so that the company can understand their needs. In order to encourage and retain female employees, Ayesha should start handing out bonuses to female employees, who have performed to the expectation of the company.
A formal investigation should be launched against the promoter Mr K. Ramesh, against whom an employee has hurled sexual harrassment charges. After the investigation correct action must be taken by the management of the company. This will show that such matters are dealt with seriousness.
In order to reduce the high attrition rate of 33%(exhibit 1),every year the company should hand out year end bonuses to employees who remain with the organisation for more than 2 years. This would also nullify any poaching tactics employed by RealMedicine.
Since sales growth are at 6%, a special target based bonus must also be initiated in the “employee is King” scheme. This will provide the sales team with the incentive to work harder and multiply sales.

prajeshguptaParticipantRajiv is in a peculiar situation. On one hand he has this job which provides income for him and his family. It is the job which he has got after months of trying. But his boss has explained him that things have to be done in a certain unpleasing manner. Rajiv should try to make the sale without paying any bribe. Rajiv should also convince Sanjeev and his seniors to try to negotiate the sale without paying a bribe. Paying a bribe would set a bad precedent and would also tarnish the name of the company. Once the word spreads in the market, most costumers would start demanding bribes from Acrobat and there would be little scope of finding new costumers without paying any bribe. If Rajiv’s seniors do not agree with him and stick to their stand, he would have no other option but to go ahead with the sale. Since fulfilling the needs of the family is Rajiv’s main aim he should stick with the job and in the meantime, try to search for another job where unfair practises are looked down upon. There will certainly be good opportunities for him in the future.

prajeshguptaParticipant@sravanti: Does graduation percentage cause a problem during placements? Will it be a factor for rejection by the interview panel?
Also, I heard that MDI gives 70% weightage to CAT score, so do you really think there is a chance of a convert at my percentile?December 29, 2014 at 1:21 pm #2195
prajeshguptaParticipantInflation (upto a certain limit) is important for growth. For eg: England’s economy hasnt been able to grow, as there hasnt been any inlflation(their inflation is in -ve).The RBI which recognises CPI(consumer price inflation) as the most important index thinks that inflation should be kept under control(not more than 5%), since RBI has achieved that target (CPI is 4.38%) there are hints that it may review and change the policy(repo) rate. I think inflation should be kept in check as it affects the day to day life of the common man. Growth can be achieved by other ways as well (removing bottlenecks in government related procedures in setting up businesses , increase FDI in various sectors, etc.). If the RBI reduces policy rate just for the sake of growth without keeping a check on inflation, the consequences can be disastrous for the common man.

prajeshguptaParticipantHi, I have some questions(for NMIMS PI):
1. I am a B.E(Mech) with 1.5 years of exp, I have done an online course on Business Strategy and basics of Corporate finance. In case asked in PI about specialization, should I say Operations(because of my work-ex) or Finance(because of my interest)?
2. my grad% is 62%, will that affect in placements in case I take finance?
3.What are some facts that make NMIMS one of the best in India for finance, something which can give me an edge in the PI?
4. Any tips on how to prepare for CD?
Thanks
