(contd)
India must proliferate its SOFT POWER and utilize it to its best possible advantage. The concept has been brought out well by Dr Shashi Tharoor in his TED talk.
India has a long way to go before it achieves the status of coveted power that we envisage for it.
But on a slightly little optimistic note, the notion is that we don’t expect exceptionally great things or momentous miracles from already existing superior entities but from the underdog who has the uncanny ability to improvise, adapt and defy models set in rigid framework.
So before signing off the topic , I would like to conclude the following from my side –1. Yes, it is with utmost faith that I believe that India will rise to become the power that we desire it to be.
2. But the vision will certainly not be achieved by 2020.Its too short time frame , because no matter since when we have been planning the results are lagging behind. :negative:
(just to reiterate there is ample difference in being globally RECOGNISED and a coveted power)

Firstly we need to change the cliched terms that define a country to be a superpower.Today we don’t require super power but rather a ‘Globally-Affluent country” is what we require any country to be , not only be economically and equitably prosperous but a ubiquitous partner in give and take relationships between countries.A provider of unique ideas and practices in varied areas of importance- business , sports, culture etc. The achievements help to command acceptance from countries but but should never lead to dominance in this era of international unity unlike certain countries.Certainly U.S.A’s call for liberty and the “Committee Study of the Central Intelligence Agency ‘s Detention and Interrogation Program” present a picture of being a hypocrite under the realm of unchecked powers. We really would never want to be a superpower like that but one with pleasant and ethical practices aligned with the international pacts and treatise of law.

the status quo unless things change for the better…

We have a long fight against scams .corruption and black money and issues of corporate governance ahead.

and stealth more than defense are required for the purpose of a silent transmission of ready-ness and intimidation

Currently India is the largest importer of arms which is a bit dismal.

4.India’s position as an investment avenue has been globally recognized. In some ways this could be our path to become the power we desire to becom
December 10, 2014 at 11:32 am #1951Kabir JainParticipantAs per UNDP India Millennium Development Goals 2015 , India’s progress report has not turned out to be satisfactory save a few goals.Out of the 12 targets only 3 are on-track or fast considering all indicators.
