Power comes from within and though India is a major player in the world economy and politics today, much has to be done before we can reckon ourselves as the superpower. We are taking strides in the right direction with a goal of economic growth with financial inclusion. But inadequate infrastructure, troublesome neighbors, growing crime rates, illiteracy, child labor rising corruption and pollution are some the factors that can potentially drag us back. With a strong government, right policies and measures being taken is getting reflected in the enhanced investor sentiment. But we are still largely dependent on the foreign investments and to be a super power has to be economically independent. ‘Make in India’ has immense importance in this respect and is the strengthening of relationship with the neighbors and other country. But first we have to quell the storm within and look at safety for women as well as minorities from different parts of India with renewed vigor. Reservations are another issue that has to be resolved. We can’t call ourselves super powers while half of the population is believed to be underprivileged compared to the rest of the society. Reservations are not serving the purpose and a better system has to be developed to achieve the task which has not be done in last 67 years. By ensuring safety and inclusive growth, we can achieve the goals set for 2020 with a visionary leader and aware citizens keen to put behind their fractional differences and individual greed at bay for the improvement of the society. Education and rapid implementation of infrastructure projects along with stringent safety measures are the key. We can be a super power if we stand united, resonating the great words and intentions in our deeds. If one man’s ascension to power can reignite the dream and create waves then, a 1.3 billion population can transform India us to new heights.
