With due respect to the previous thought, India was ruled by a kind of dynasty(Gandhi Parivar) and hence never achieved the desired results. In Bajpai’s government India had seen the upsurge in investments and infrastructure but as soon as congress was back things took backstand. So I think revise policies can play an important role .
The prime factor for a country’s growth is its youth and population.Though I agree to high poverty and unemployment level in India but at the same time we can’t ignore the fact that we have lot many schemes to fight them back..if only they are implemented. The current government is looking at the holistic development of the country i.e apart from economic policies there are many social programmes like Swach Bharath and interestingly the “Yuva Pidhi” is responding positively to it.Hence I think that with little more efforts ,things will start falling at place and we can achieve the desired results.

“A developed India by 2020 ,or even earlier ,is not a dream. It need not be a mere vision in the minds of many Indians .It is a mission we can all take up-and succeed” –APJ Abdul Kalam.

It all depends on how we define a SUPERPOWER.As per my understanding ,the criteria for a country to be a super power can be broken down to its economic ,politics ,resources and military strength.

If we talk about economics ,with GDP of 5.7 and programmes like “Make in India “ ,”Digital India” ,boom of e commerce and start ups like Bluestone,Gramener etc,the economic growth prospects of India are really bright . Except China, India has registered the fastest growth consistently during the last decade, without being much affected by 2011 economic meltdown ,which shows that we have the potential and proper planning to stand the economic crisis.Unlike Japanese ageing population,High youth population of India means new ideas ,lot more innovations and hopefully good growth in real terms.
Talking about natural resources ,the coal reserve in India is about 285 billion tonnes, which may last another 200 years. As regards hydro power our estimated potential of 1,50,000 MW. India is the largest producer of sheet mica, the third largest producer of iron ore and the fifth largest producer of bauxite in the world.Given the above facts,India has enough resources to cater its industrial and developmental needs,we are only lagging in their optimum utilization.Instead of importing from other nations ,we can become independent if effective measures are taken. Our new government has already started working in this direction.
We have third largest army and we are a nuclear power. In field of scientific research and technology we have proved our mettle in time and again ,recent been our successful “Mission of Mars” . The only hurdle for India to become a super power is the lack of leadership, which seems to be resolved as we are getting positive response from the outside world of Business leaders, investors and politicians. We have man power. We have talent pools. We have a strong cultural background, an exemplary history, we have world gurus, top corporate leaders, we have natural resources, we possess everything required to become a super power.
