Well articulated and good reasoning… while you have highlighted the points well, the solution is missing…
+3 for valid points :good:

As the businesses in general thrive to be profitable , irrespective of the they being traditional or no , they must have to maintain healthy relations with their customers.
Only probability about their not being committed would arise because of the free platform given to their publications. One would bother more if one has spent significant amount else he might be reluctant to post publication services.

The better the app, more will be the downloads, which in itself is a review of their work. Also, the customer feedback(in form of online reviews in this case ) exposes them to the areas where the app is lagging.
It is for the better delivery of service that the developers need to work on these areas and introduce new concepts within the app to make their work more successful. So we can fairly say that they are too obligated towards their users albeit in a different form!January 27, 2016 at 4:42 pm #8797AbhirupKeymasterAgreed Aishwarya, but how to ensure this happens, how to track that the quality standards are maintained?

For example, like imdb gives its own ratings to movies and shows as well as lists them on according to popularity, and users rating as well.this would introduce a sense of competition on the platform where the apps are published.
January 27, 2016 at 6:22 pm #8802AbhirupKeymasterGood suggestion , rating is one, what more ! Think on the lines how you can ensure compliance.

A negative review or low rating to the app can cause customer churn. An app needs to increase customer satisfaction to reduce customer churn. For example-people prefer Whats App over other messengers like Hike or WeChat, only because Whats App has time and again updated the app for better performance and user experience so as to retain its current customer base and simultaneously acquire more users. Thus,in my view they hold equal obligations towards the customers.

January 29, 2016 at 10:50 pm #8808Swati DasParticipantAlso I would like to add ,nowadays ,taking as example of android apps, customers have options like – ëmail”,”rate”,”flag as inappropriate”,
“visit website”,”write a review” etc. So, the app developers would not take a chance on developing an app and not addressing the grievances of the customers who actually use it,because then it would lead to terrible losses for them instead of gains. -
