Indian Institute of Foreign Trade was set up in 1963 by Ministry of Commerce to help professionalize the country’s foreign trade management. The institute has since then evolved into the only one among the top 10 B-schools to offer the coveted Master of Business Administration programme in International Business.
The success of the institute can be gauged from the fact that it is the major think tank when it comes to formulating policies concerning foreign trade and international business. IIFT has undertaken research studies with organisations like World Trade Organisation, World Bank, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
A B-school life is incomplete without competitions where two B-schools or rather two students from the same B-school are pitted against each other. The institute firmly believes that this is where an individual’s competitive nature kicks and he/she starts punching above their weights.
For the same, IIFT’s Kolkata campus is organising Vivaan, a two day summit to be held at IIFT in its Kolkata campus on 4th, 5th and 6th September. Students from various B schools expressed their interests in the event when they flooded the IIFT handle with tweets during the recently held Twitter contest where they were asked to describe their MBA journey so far in one line.
