On 17th July, XIMB witnessed an ebullient evening as the college celebrated Parichay’15, with a lot of pomp and fanfare. This year’s gathering saw an attendance of over 1000 people, which included students from first year, second year and faculty members.
Parichay, as the name suggests, is an occasion where the senior batch officially welcomes the new batch to the culture and spirit of XIMB and go an extra mile by showcasing their talents and scintillating performances to make them feel at ease. This year’s Parichay was no exception.
The event began with a welcome speech by Fr. Antony Uvary, S.J., Registrar &Associate Director, XUB, XIMB and Fr. Arockia Das V, SJ Assistant Registrar – Administration, XUB, XIMB who emphasized the significance of such a culture. Following which there were some dazzling performances by the students of the senior batch. This included dance performances, group songs, stand-up comedy, fusions and it involved all kinds of musical instruments, from ever popular guitars to piano to mouth organs. It showcased the diversity that XIMB is known for. The performance that caught everyone’s attention was from the mess workers, who are fondly known as “mess bhainas”. They danced to the tunes of chart blockbusters which made everyone rise to the occasion and giving them a standing ovation.
Participation from every sphere of the XIMB fraternity was witnesses and indeed it showcased the affinity everybody shares. The three hour event was followed by a sumptuous dinner organized at the college. The unparalleled success of the event, yet again, portrayed the enthusiasm and fervor of the XIMB students.
