We recently caught up with Aishwarya Isha who has completed her MBA from MDI Murshidabad specializing in marketing domain. Her hobbies include reading novels, sketching & designing. She also loves binge watching web series such as The Big Bang Theory, FRIENDS, Dark, Harry Potter, etc. She is presently working with Linde South Asia.

Q1. Tell us something about your journey so far?
My professional journey started with my Graduation in Chemical Engineering. Even in my Graduation period I was a little confused about my career path. Then one of my seniors introduced me to the field of Marketing- which encouraged me to go for my MBA program in Marketing. And now I strongly feel that I am where I always belonged.

Q2. Tell us something about your experience in MDI Murshidabad. How has that experience helped in shaping you as a professional?
I was a novice and I had to learn a lot of things. With MDI Murshidabad, I got that opportunity. In MDIM, I was surrounded by Like-minded people. The Personality development that has happened in me over the past 2 years, I owe it completely to my batch mates, professors, and friends of MDIM. Not only soft skills, my Hard Skills that are pre-requisites of Corporate Life was also developed. Lastly, separate dedicated sessions were provided to us for preparing oneself for GDs, PIs, Aptitude Tests, etc.

Q3. Tell us something about your daily work routine. How do you manage your stress levels in workplace which every professional faces these days?
My Office timing is from 9:15 am – 6 pm (Monday to Friday). To keep myself both physically & mentally fit, I meditate and exercise, a lot. If the company you are working in have an inclusive environment/ an open door policy, half of the stress related jobs gets sorted then & there.
Block the reasons that can give your stress. If the work seems tough/ hard- Get help and learn (from Google, Colleagues, Friends, Family, etc.). If the work environment seems tough- Talk to your colleagues, boss, managers, etc. They must have experienced or maybe experiencing the same thing & together you may find a way out. If the personal life seems tough because of Work- Prioritise. Everything has a solution; you just have to find a balance.

Q4. What or who has been the biggest influence in your career so far? How do you balance your personal and professional career?
There has been no biggest influence in my career or life. I have learnt things with time & people. For balancing my personal & professional life- I have set a routine. Monday to Friday is dedicated to Work & implementing what I have learnt till now. Saturday & Sunday is dedicated to rest and learning new things. Every day I give myself a dedicated “Me Time”- in this time I would be watching movies/ series, listening to songs, reading a book or just lying flat on my bed. Along with this, if I think that the work load has been too much (personally or professionally), I try to delegate the work; it’s no shame to ask for help when you’re stuck. To keep my mind sane, I meditate, draw & design.
Along with all this, I make sure I am always in touch with my friends and family. Also, if it’s not lockdown, I make sure we(friends/ family) go for shopping or make time for some fancy lunch/ dinner.

Q5. Which is the biggest challenge you have faced so far? What are your future plans?
The biggest challenge so far for me is “Becoming Complacent”. If I have achieved certain Short- term goals or Long-term Goals, I become really very satisfied with myself which is not a good sign for people who want to constantly grow in their lives. I don’t have a plan, I have milestones which I need to achieve within a given time frame. e.g. I need to repay my loan completely by the time I am 27 years old. I need to have a 2BHK house by the time I am 30 years old, etc. I try to keep Milestones and I work for achieving these milestones.

Q6. How has the lockdown impacted you as a professional?
Working From Home & working in an office surrounded by like- minded people are 2 entirely different worlds. In an Office, “learning through experience” is combined with “learning with people”; which is absent in WFH. But, still I tried to utilise this Lockdown as an Opportunity. I applied for a lot of job roles & even worked with 2-3 reputed organisations (e.g. Jio Creative Labs, Little Heights, Chegg, etc.) Not only this, I completed some courses of my Marketing Domain; learnt Video Creation, Video Editing, Image Editing and worked as a Freelancer. So, when life gives you a Lockdown Lemon, make a Freelancing Lemonade.

Q7. What will be your advice to young professionals and MBA students?

Initiate & Get into Conversations. Make a Network. Never Stop Learning.
Once you enter Corporate World or an Entrepreneurial World, the one thing that will be needed most is “Conversations”; be it Pitch Deck Presentation, Business Deals, Sales Pitch, Meetings, Fun Events, etc. These conversations would further your Network & Ties. Also, having the ability of initiating conversations with anyone will surely boost your confidence.

Q8. How important is to pursue your passion? How can our readers connect with you ?
Very, very Important. The human lives are made up of choices that we make- Yes or No, Love or Hate, etc. If we as a human would remove Passion from the equation of choices, then we would be similar to a Heart without a Beat. Passion motivates one towards excellence; so never give up on your passion. Readers can connect with me on Linkedin.
