The 7th Annual UG Convocation of the students of XIM University was held on 29th April 2023 at the colossal auditorium in the University’s new campus. His Excellency, Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha was the Chief Guest for the occasion and delivered the convocation address. The welcome address was delivered by the Registrar, Fr.

  2. Uvari, S.J. The degrees during the ceremony were conferred by the Hon’ble Governor of Odisha and the Vice Chancellor of the University. The meritorious students were awarded gold medals for their academic distinction in various specializations in their respective schools.

XIM University in its continuous efforts to nurture and groom the leaders of tomorrow offers a plethora of courses and programs at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level for aspirants to make a career for themselves in their field of interest. The recent Times B School Ranking 2023 ranked XIM University as the foremost in the 36 top private universities in the country which is a testimony of the quality of education. On the eve of the 9th Convocation, XIM University conferred an Honorary Doctoral Degree upon Shri. Nadir B. Godrej. Among the eminent dignitaries’ present were Fr. Jerome Cutinha, S.J., Chairman, Board of Governors of XIM University, Shri. Rajive Kaul, Emeritus Chairman, Board of Governors of XIM University, Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J., Vice Chancellor, XIM University, Fr. S. Antony Raj S.J., Registrar, Fr. V. Arockia Das, S.J., Chief Finance Officer, XIM University, Deans of different schools and Officials of XIM University. A few of the elite Board Members were also present occasion.

Prof. Andrew Dutta, Dean, School of Human Resource Management welcomed all the students, parents, dignitaries and guests.

Fr. Antony R. Uvari, S.J, Vice Chancellor, XIM  University in his report elaborated the attainments of the University in the past year. He highlighted a few notable points which included the University being accredited with “A” grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and spoke about the accomplishments of the 13 schools within the ambit of the University and thanked each member of the XIM fraternity for their contribution and looked forward to another successful year.

Addressing the audience in his Chairman’s speech, Fr. Jerome Cutinha,  S.J.,  felt proud of the students and congratulated them. He was happy to note that each year the number of graduating students was steadily increasing. He spoke about the importance of individual resilience and integrity as two key components of future growth and success for the young minds of today.

The Emeritus Chairman Shri Rajive Kaul  addressed  the  audience  calling  the convocation a landmark event in the life of the students which would be full of opportunities along with challenges.

As the Convocation Speaker, the Chief Guest, Shri. Nadir B. Godrej spoke about how comprehensive education is the need of the hour of our nation. He stressed on the fact that “Every cloud has a silver liningso we must never give up and strive towards our goals and passion in life.

The state-of-the-art Auditorium in XIM University Bhubaneswar was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Shri. Naveen Patnaik on 26th February 2023 at Nijigada, Kurki, Harirajpur Campus.

The occasion was also graced by Shri. Rohit Pujari, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Govt. of Odisha; Shri. Rudra Pratap Maharathy, Hon’ble Member of the Legislative Assembly from Pipli constituency; Shri. R. Balakrishnan, IAS, Chief Advisor to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha; Most Reverend John Barwa, SVD, Archbishop of Cuttack – Bhubaneswar, Archdiocese, and esteemed members of the Board of the University.

Fr. Antony R. Uvari, Vice Chancellor, XIM University in his welcome address stated that this beautiful 3000 seating capacity auditorium along with a 450-capacity lecture hall and 4 numbers of 150 capacity video conferencing halls was yet another milestone in the life of XIM University. The iconic structure comprises of all modern facilities and technology. The colossal auditorium is one of its kind in the state and is acknowledged as both an architectural and engineering marvel. This fully air-conditioned auditorium has one of the best acoustics to cater to the needs. Designed as an octagonal structure the auditorium connects different level with ramps and staircases with multiple entry and exits for ease of movement of 3000 people integrating public convenience facilities and safety as well.

The faculty, staff and students at the University participated in the inaugural ceremony with great zeal & enthusiasm. It was indeed a moment of pride for the University, its fraternity, and the state as Odisha is an emerging knowledge hub for the young generation of the country having world class infrastructure and facilities for learning and all-round development. Shri Rohit Pujari through his speech acknowledged the remarkable journey of Higher Education in Odisha and the role of the Xavier fraternity towards the same by mentioning,“We under the dynamic leadership of our Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik ji are working towards turning Bhubaneswar into the Education hub of India through many great steps like Skill in Odisha and 5T Transformational Program while the biggest Epitome of Higher Education in Odisha is Xavier’s journey from XIMB in Chandrasekharpur to the new campus of XIM University to the inauguration of the Colossal Auditorium today”

Shri R Balakrishnan, IAS, Chief Advisor to Honourable CM also addressed the gathering by applauding XIM University and the team behind the conceptualization of the State-of-the-Art Auditorium. Shri. Rudra Pratap Maharathy in his speech mentioned about the importance that the Honorable Chief Minister accords to education in the state and how under his able leadership the state has set a benchmark for other states to follow. He also spoke about his seven years of association with XIM University wherein he horned his skills of discipline, good management practices and praised the quality of education being imparted to students.The Most Reverend Archbishop, John Barwa, SVD in his speech thanked both the Jesuit society and the Odisha government for their support in promoting higher education by stating,“Our State is becoming no. 1 in India in terms of higher education through the dedication and commitment of our Jesuit Brethren and liberal assistance of our honorable Chief Minister Shree Naveen Patnaik” 

The inaugural ceremony ended with the vote by thanks by Fr. S. Antony Raj, Registrar, XIM University wherein he thanked all starting from the one who conceptualized, designed the auditorium and all the vendors and their workers who raced against time to complete this magnificent structure so efficiently.

XIM Bhubaneswar conducted the Budget Conclave, the eighth annual budget analysis session, hosted by X-FIN – The Finance Association of XIM, in collaboration with the World Trade Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, has been instrumental in developing business leaders for the last 35 years. Xpressions Steering Committee (X-Stec), in collaboration with the Student Executive Council, inaugurated Xpressions, the flagship Management and Cultural fest of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, on 13th January 2023. The festival is decorated as the largest Management – Cultural festival in Eastern India.

The first day started with the inaugural ceremony at the auditorium. Living up to the name of one of the finest B-Schools in India, the college hosts a plethora of business and cultural events, earning zealous participation from reputed institutions and corporate houses from across the country. The Business Events for the day consisted of Model United Nations by the Speak-up committee. MAXIM, the Marketing Association of XIM, Bhubaneswar, organized Maxim Mela, X-SYS, the Systems Association of XIM, Bhubaneswar, organized a gaming event, Xigabytes. Other online business events such as Inquizzitive, Maven, and Trade Wars were organized by various college committees.

The Stage Events for the day included Rap It Up, a rap music battle, Aaghaz, a display of nukkad natak, and Decibelz. A range of campus events was organized by the committees, such as Flight of Fancy, Lensation, Zorbing, Bungee Basketball, and Rifle Shooting. X-Enable was an event organized by The Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) for specially-abled kids.

The day ended with a show-stealing performance by the famous stand-up comedian Karunesh Talwar.

The second day started with exciting business events organized by the various college committees and included numerous cultural events. The day’s business events comprised Model United Nations, which began at 10 am and continued till the evening. X-SYS organized Xigabytes, X-FIN, the Finance Association of XIM, Bhubaneswar, organized FinBid, a bidding session to test the strategic acumen of the participants. Constrat, the consulting and strategy association of the college, organized Xhillerate. Online business event Inquizzitive was also organized.

The Stage Events for the day included Pratibimb, Dhoon, Punchline, and Carnival De Vogue, wherein various teams participated to showcase their talent. The committees organized various campus events, such as Flight of Fancy and Vaktritva.
The day ended with Celebrity night with the well-known celebrities Olly Esse and Zephyrtone.

The last day’s business events included the Model United Nations, followed by Pitch it abroad, an event organized by the International Relation committee. MAXIM had organized the Maxim Mela. Xigabytes was organized by X-Sys. The X-Stec had organized its flagship event, Jack Of All Trades.

The stage events of the last day included Paint@XIMB, a painting competition. Goonj, an event for instrumentalists, and Thirkan, a dance competition. The campus event included Vridhi, a national-level case competition organized by SRC. The day ended with an energetic performance by renowned artist Vishal-Sheykhar.

XIM Bhubaneswar conducted the Annual Business Conclave: Stratonomics ’22 on 10th December 2022 at XIM Auditorium at 3.30 PM, hosted by CONSTRAT- The Consulting and Strategy Consortium of XIM, Bhubaneswar. This year’s theme was Managing Change: Using Strategy to Explore New Business Horizons.

The event was graced with the presence of Rakesh Dash, Head of Corporate Strategy, Bajaj Electricals; Madhumitha Prema Ramanathan, CSO, Experian India; Santo Biswas, Corporate Director-Sales, Indian Hotels Company Limited, who shared their valuable insights with the audience.

The session commenced with the speakers lighting the lamp. It was followed by Professor Amar KJR Nayak of XIM, Bhubaneswar introducing the theme and inviting the speakers to present their views on the same. The theme “Managing Change: Using Strategy to Explore New Business Horizons” witnessed a variety of thoughts presented by the panel of our esteemed speakers. The discussion included perspectives on risk horizons in business, corporate governance, innovation, and exploring new markets.

The first speaker of the day, Rakesh Dash, Head of Corporate Strategy Bajaj Electricals, discussed various strategic templates to mitigate risks in business and how important it is for companies to explore new markets. He quoted that “From time to time, different sectors become relevant. We have to see how the market is exploring. In such a scenario, how do you manage your portfolio? It’s about striking a balance between the business’s competitive advantage and the industry.”

The day’s second speaker was Madhumitha Prema Ramanathan, CSO of Experian India spoke about how a strategist is responsible for planning, execution, and innovation. She highlighted the importance of innovation to achieve sustainable growth. Mrs. Madhumitha also stated, “Now, in the VUCA world, the strategist is not just responsible for strategy but also looking around at the competition and coming up with innovations to accommodate those risks.”

The session was further continued by the third and final speaker of the day, Santo Biswas, Corporate Director-Sales, Indian Hotels Company Limited, who enlightened us about how culture is the catalyst to change. He also iterated that companies that think strategically and not just restart to survive the dynamic business environment. He put forward the point, “How we become agile is through culture. It is the catalyst for change. We continuously reimagine our strategies to achieve excellency. Our value system and trust between our partners are what drives us.”

The event concluded with a panel discussion on how firms need to be resilient and innovate and adapt to constant changes to ensure their survival. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Sumitra Balakrishnan of XIM, Bhubaneswar, who kept the session engaging by touching upon relevant questions.

After the talk by the eminent speakers was the much-awaited question and answer session where the bright minds of XIM University asked questions relevant to the theme of the day – Managing Change. The summit concluded with felicitation of speakers and moderators and an ending note and vote of thanks by Sabyasachi Ghosh, the coordinator of Constrat, the Consulting and Strategy Consortium of XIM, Bhubaneswar.

The event was graced with the presence of Prof. R. Srinivasan, Professor, Strategy, IIM Bangalore; Mr. Jagdish Mitra, CSO, and Head of Growth, Tech Mahindra; Mr. Manish Pandeya, Partner, Deloitte Digital; Mr. Susanta Mishra, CEO, GyyanX, who shared their valuable insights with the audience.

The session commenced with the speakers lighting the lamp, followed by the felicitation of the speakers and the moderators. It was then followed with Professor Bhaskar Basu of XIM, Bhubaneswar introducing the theme and inviting the speakers to present their views on the same. The theme “Digital Kinesia: Metamorphosizing the Business World”, witnessed a variety of thoughts presented by the panel of our esteemed speakers. The discussion included perspectives on platforms, software, and recent technological developments in business.

 

The first speaker of the day, Prof. R. Srinivasan, Professor, Strategy, IIM Bangalore discussed the various types of platforms and elaborated on them using examples from the industry. He quoted that “It is said that if something comes for free, we are the product. The fact though is that the companies are not monetizing us. They are monetizing our data and usage patterns.”

The day’s second speaker was Mr. Jagdish Mitra, CSO, and Head of Growth, Tech Mahindra spoke about how platforms and SaaS is connecting businesses and the role of managers in ensuring that the technology is used efficiently. Mr. Jagdish also stated, “Don’t find the problems to be solved by a technology; find the technology to solve your problem.”

The session was further continued by the third speaker of the day, Mr. Manish Pandeya, Partner, Deloitte Digital who enlightened us about how customer experience plays a pivotal role and how this impacts the applicability of upcoming technologies. He put forward the point, “Today, it’s more about collaboration between platforms. In future, no matter what technologies are launched, their integration with existing technologies will be of prime importance.”

The final speaker of the conclave, Mr. Susanta Mishra, CEO, GyyanX, shared his views on decentralization and how Web3 will be a deal-breaker for firms moving ahead. He also added, “The old-generation companies need to digitalize to survive, and the new ones need to redefine the use cases by digitization by thinking differently.”

The event concluded with a panel discussion on how firms are leveraging the power of platforms and are building their identity using technological tools. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Bhaskar Basu of XIM, Bhubaneswar, who kept the session engaging by touching upon relevant questions.

After the talk by the eminent speakers was the much-awaited question and answer session where the bright minds of XIM University asked questions relevant to the theme of the day – Digital Kinesia.
