Interview with Kaushik Agate

NMIMS Merit Rank: Core 586

Firstly, congratulations on converting your call to NMIMS. Our readers would like to hear something about your background?

Hello all, I did my mechanical engineering from Mumbai University. Post- graduation, I worked for 2 years in manufacturing industry and took a study break. During which, I tried to explore online education industry through part time job. It helped in enhancing my profile as well.

“Why MBA” must be a common question doing the rounds these days. What was your reason for pursuing MBA?

The frank answer has to be to Fast Track my career. Ten years of technical exp. will give you as much as 2 years of MBA , in terms of pay scale, exposure  and interesting challenges which might give you an escape from mundane work.

Secondly Finance and marketing knowledge is the need of the hour and engineer has zilch knowledge about it. So a formal training Is always essential.

Tell us something about your preparation strategy. What would you suggest future aspirants regarding the same?

Consistency is the key. I used to study 4-5 hours a day but on regular basis. That helps in maintaining balance studies and other activities.

Tell us something about your Case Discussion / PI experience?

CD was interesting. I opened the discussion with confidence and content, which helped me for the rest of the discussion. It wasn’t a fish market situation as the group came to decision that everyone should get chance to make point.

So, 20 seconds at the start and two short intervals of 12 seconds was all that I participated.

PI was all related to the work experience. Hence, I was confident in answering .Why MBA was the anticipated question.

Panel of 3 professors was present. One of them tried to be ignorant. Others were helpful and were not at all grilling.

How has IdeasMakeMarket helped you in your preparation? Would you recommend it to other users?

It boosted my confidence. It showed how to make your point when 12 other ppl are trying for the same.

The mock PIs taken on IMM were on the similar lines with the final day PI in NMIMS.

I would definitely recommend IMM as you get lots of things other than CDs and PIs which are rather more important in future ahead.

IMM centrally focuses on CDs and PIs for which you pay them but you get so much peripheral assistance regarding MBA, specialisations and others that you get much more than what you paid for.

Besides studies, what other interests you have.

I play tabla in free time. I have culinary interests which keep me busy in absolute No work time.

What is your career plan in the long run?

My plan is to go up the hierarchy in manufacturing sector. Given the e – commerce boom, the core industry has to be taken care of. Becoming the plant head of the multi-billion manufacturing company is what I aspire for.

We wish you the very best !
